At the one of the Committee meetings held in the course of the Second Session, the People´s Deputies listened to the report concerning conditions of preservation of valuable library stock of the State Historical Library of Ukraine. The library stock includes not only old printings and books of unique historical importance, but also rarities that require urgent restoration: Guillaume de Lorris, Jean de Meun "Le Roman de la Rose". Paris, 1538 (paleotype), New Testament. - Ostroh, 1580, Evkhologion or Molitvoslov - К., Printing of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, 1646, Pateryk Pechersky - К., Printing of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, 1661, Synopsis or Short Description of Various Annalists - К., Printing of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, 1674 and 1678.
Due to the Committee members, such a critical situation is a result of inadequate funding of the library. Therefore, it is necessary to fund due stocking of library holding with modern historical literature, and secure restoration of unique old printings.
Therefore, the Committee appealed to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with a request to hold major repairs of fund depositories, and secure due funding and holding of restoration work.
Moreover, the Committee members collected charitable funds in the amount of 20 thousand UAH and transferred them to the officials of the State Historical Library of Ukraine for immediate purchase of new archival shelves.
